West Indies v South Africa - 1st Test 1991/2 - Match Preview
Bridgetown, Barbados
Pitch: This pitch could be pretty lively for at least the first morning, and is likely to stay fast
paced well into the second day. Thereafter batting should present no great perils at least until the final stages when the bounce may become a problem.
Weather: 10 - Rain
West Indies XI:
D.L.Haynes, P.V.Simmons, R.B.Richardson (c), B.C.Lara, C.L.Hooper, K.L.T.Arthurton, D.Williams (wk), C.E.L.Ambrose, C.A.Walsh, K.C.G.Benjamin, B.P.Patterson
South African XI:
A.C.Hudson, M.W.Rushmere, K.C.Wessels (c), P.N.Kirsten, W.J.Cronje, A.P.Kuiper, D.J.Richardson (wk), R.P.Snell, M.W.Pringle, A.A.Donald, T.Bosch
Toss: South Africa
Both teams have named a 4 man seam attack for a match on a pitch which is expected to help the faster men.
Experienced South African opener Jimmy Cook was left out of the final XI despite a hundred in the tour match as the South Africans preferred the younger Hudson and Rushmere.
Left arm spinner Omar Henry was also unlucky to miss out after a 5 wicket haul in the tour game as the South Africans preferred an all pace attack.
The South Africans won the toss and elected to give their bowlers first use of conditions on what promises to be a rain reduced day.
